Index
An investment cannot be made directly into an index.
S&P 500
Standard & Poor's is a corporation that rates stocks and corporate and municipal bonds according to risk profiles. The S&P 500 is an index of 500 major, large‐cap U.S. corporations. You cannot invest directly in an index.
Dow Jones
Dow Jones Industrial Average is unmanaged and measures broad market performance. It is not possible to invest directly in an index.
FINRAAQ
A market‐value weighted index of all common stocks listed on FINRAAQ. The index is used mainly to track technology stocks, and thus it is not a good indicator of the market as a whole. The FINRAAQ is market value‐weighted, so it takes into account the total market capitalization of the companies it tracks and not just their share prices. It is not possible to invest directly in an index.
Lehman Brothers Aggregate Bond Index
Lehman Brothers Aggregate Bond Index is an index comprised of approximately 6,000 publicly traded bonds including U.S. Government, mortgage‐backed, corporate and Yankee bonds with an average maturity of approximately 10 years. The index is weighted by the market value of the bonds included in the index. This index represents asset types, which are subject to risk, including loss of principal. It is not possible to invest directly in an index.
Russell 1000® Growth Index
The Russell 1000®Growth Index is an unmanaged market capitalization‐weighted index of those stocks of the 1,000 largest U.S. domiciled companies that exhibit growth‐oriented characteristics.
Russell 2000® Index
The Russell 2000® Index is an unmanaged market capitalization‐weighted index measuring the performance of the smallest 2,000 companies in the Russell 3000® Index.
Russell MidCap Index
The Russell MidCap Index is an unmanaged index that measures the performance of the 800 smallest companies in the Russell 1000® Index, which represent approximately 26% of the total market capitalization of the Russell 1000® Index.
MSCI EAFE Index
The MSCI EAFE Index is an unmanaged market capitalization‐weighted index of equity securities of companies domiciled in various countries. The Index is designed to represent the performance of developed stock markets outside the United States and Canada and excludes certain market segments unavailable to U.S. based investors.
Lehman Brother Intermediate Government/Credit Bond Index
The Lehman Brothers Intermediate Government/Credit Bond Index (LBIGC) is composed of bonds that are investment grade or higher with maturities between one and 9.99 years. Total return comprises price appreciation/depreciation and income as a percentage of the original investment.
Russell 1000®Value Index
The Russell 1000®Value Index is an unmanaged market capitalization‐weighted index of those stocks of the 1,000 largest U.S. domiciled companies that exhibit value‐oriented characteristics.
Russell 3000®Value Index
The Russell 3000®Value Index is an unmanaged market capitalization‐weighted index of those stocks of the 3,000 largest U.S. domiciled companies that exhibit value‐oriented characteristics.
Russell Midcap Growth Index
The Russell Midcap Growth Index measures the performance of the mid‐cap growth segment of the U.S. equity universe. It includes those Russell Midcap Index companies with higher price-to-book ratios and higher forecasted growth values.
Russell Midcap Value Index
The Russell Midcap Value Index measures the performance of the mid‐cap value segment of the U.S. equity universe. It includes those Russell Midcap Index companies with lower price‐to‐book ratios and lower forecasted growth values.
Russell 2000®Value Index
The Russell 2000 Value Index measures the performance of small‐cap value segment of the U.S. equity universe. It includes those Russell 2000 companies with lower price‐to‐book ratios and lower forecasted growth values.
Russell 2000® Growth Index
The Russell 2000 Growth Index measures the performance of the small‐cap growth segment of the U.S. equity universe. It includes those Russell 2000 companies with higher price‐to‐value ratios and higher forecasted growth values.
Lehman Brothers Municipal Bond Index
Lehman Brothers Municipal Bond Index includes investment‐grade, tax‐exempt, and fixed‐rate bonds with long‐term maturities (greater than two years) selected from issues larger than $50 million.
Lehman 1‐3 Year Government/Credit Index
The Lehman 1‐3 Year Government/Credit Index is an unmanaged index consisting of all US government agency and Treasury securities, as well as all investment grade corporate debt securities with maturities of one to three years.
Lehman Brothers 3‐Year Municipal Bond Index
The Lehman Brothers 3‐Year Municipal Bond Index is the 3‐year component of the Lehman Brothers Municipal Bond index, which is an unmanaged index composed of long‐term tax-exempt bonds with a minimum credit rating of Baa.
Morgan Stanley Capital International World Index
The Morgan Stanley Capital International World Index is composed of companies representative of the market structure of 22 developed market countries in North America, Europe, and the Asia/Pacific Region. The index is calculated without dividends, with net or with gross dividends reinvested, in both US dollars and local currencies.
Merrill Lynch All U.S. Convertibles Index
The Merrill Lynch All U.S. Convertibles Index (VXAO) is comprised of approximately 500 issues of convertible bonds and preferred stock of all qualities.
NAREIT Equity Index
The NAREIT Equity Index is an unmanaged index of publicly traded U.S., tax‐qualified REITs that have 75% or more of their gross invested book assets invested in the equity ownership of real estate.
